Partner Notes

As we move into a new quarter, I have found myself reflecting on how important it is to stay grounded, centered, and purposeful in the work we do every day. The pace of our profession rarely slows, and the transition between working remotely and being in the office has only highlighted how meaningful it is to connect in person. Each time I have the opportunity to meet with clients face to face, I am reminded how much I value the relationships we have built and the trust you place in us. Those moments continue to reinforce the purpose behind our work and the importance of staying engaged and present.

Last month, I traveled through the Midwest and East Coast, spending time in Indiana, Illinois, Rhode Island, Vermont, and New Hampshire. The change in environment offered a welcome recharge and disruption to the routine. Experiencing the sharp contrast in weather and pace reminded me how amazing it can be to briefly step outside our familiar surroundings. There is something about moving through different cities and states, even for a short time, that brings a renewed sense of clarity and gratitude. Returning to California felt especially meaningful after time away. It made me appreciate the stability we often overlook in our daily lives and the grounding that comes from being part of a community, both personally and professionally.

Throughout all of this, I have been thinking about how important it is to stay engaged not only with our clients but with our broader community. Even though many of us balance hybrid or remote schedules, our connections, whether through volunteering, attending local events, or supporting organizations that matter to us, remain a defining aspect of who we are. These efforts remind us we are part of something larger than the day to day demands of legal work. They bring perspective, balance, and a sense of shared purpose that strengthens the work we do and the counsel we ultimately provide to you.

On a personal note, this past year has been pretty special for my family. My daughter was selected to sing in a national choir performance at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in Chicago in March, and in the next coming months she will be singing at a San Diego Padres game as well as at Universal Studios Hollywood. Likewise, my son is getting personal record after personal record in the butterfly on his high school swim team and is starring as a lead role in his 5th play now as a sophomore. He also hosts a ten-person, seven-hour Dungeons and Dragons campaign every Sunday in our basement that has become quite the event (how many Little Ceasars pizzas can ten 16 year olds eat? You’d be surprised). Their commitment to the things they love and the discipline they have shown has been a reminder of how meaningful it is to invest in the things that bring us a sense of purpose. As parents, we witness our children grow in ways that both humble and motivate us, and this experience has certainly done that for me. I am immensely proud of them and grateful for the reminder that growth, perseverance, and joy often come from the same place.

With summer on the horizon, I hope each of us finds a moment to mix it up a bit and gain a renewed sense of perspective. As we move forward together, I remain grateful for our team, for the opportunity to work with you, for the trust you place in us, and for the shared commitment to thoughtful, purposeful progress. I look forward to the months ahead and to continuing our work together with clarity, intention, and connection.

If you have something you would like to discuss, big or small, I welcome the opportunity to connect. Please reach out whenever you are ready; supporting you is always a priority.
