This Privacy Policy explains how Scherer Smith & Kenny LLP (“SS& K”) receives and processes personal information as defined by applicable law from its business clients (“Client Personal Information”).
What Information & Why. SS&K is a full-service law firm handling business, corporate, nonprofit, intellectual property, employment, real estate and homeowners’ association law, mergers and acquisitions, estates and trusts, litigation, and dispute resolution matters (“Legal Services”). SS&K collects Client Personal Information that identifies or is associated with you when we provide Legal Services or market our Legal Services to you, your employer, or any other person that has authorized you to communicate with us, or when you access our website, when you register or attend an event organized or hosted by us, or when you otherwise contact us.
SS&K receives or collects the following types of Client Personal Information pursuant to providing Legal Services: First Name and Last Name; Title; Job Title; and contact information (E-mail address, physical business address, phone number), government identification documents (including passport, driver’s license, and/or social security identification), insurance account identification, and bank account identification. Visitors to its Site may provide Visitor Personal Information (including name and business email address) so that SS&K can contact them to provide information about their Legal Services.
Usage, Device and Log Information. We collect information about you when you access and use the Site and the Services including your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, access times, browser type and language, Web pages you visit, device information, and other actions you take, in order to improve our Services, and/or develop new Services.
With Whom?. SS&K shares personal information with trusted Service Providers for the business purposes of providing the Legal Services and includes the following types of services: website hosting, website analytics, and email marketing.
Aggregated Information. SS&K may use aggregated or de-identified information (not containing personal information) (“Aggregated Information”) to analyze trends and improve its Services.
Compliance with Laws. SS&K may disclose Client Personal Information to a third party if (a) it believes that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, or (b) to protect the security or integrity of the Services from harm or illegal activities.
Business Transfers. SS&K may share or transfer Client Personal Information in connection with, any merger, sale of SS&K assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of the business to another company. SS&K may share or transfer Aggregated Information to affiliate or related companies for its business purposes.
California Residents. SS&K does not sell or share Client Personal Information as defined under CCPA. SS&K upholds the right of non-discrimination as defined under CCPA. Clients residing in California are considered consumers under CCPA. Retention Policy. SS&K retains Client Personal Information as long as necessary to provide the Services unless a longer period is required to permitted for legal or compliance purposes.
Do Not Track. Some browsers offer a “do not track” (“DNT”) option. SS&K does not respond to DNT signals.
Security. SS&K employs industry standard organizational, technical, administrative and technological measures that are reasonably designed to help protect information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. While SS&K takes reasonable efforts to guard information, no security system is impenetrable.
Policy On Information Collected from Children. This Site and Services are not directed at children under the age of 13. SS&K does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
Changes. SS&K may need to update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to its Services and the laws applicable to its provision of the Services. If SS&K does change this Privacy Policy, it will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Privacy Policy on the Site. Continued use of this Site or the Services after the posting of such notice will be subject to the terms of the then-current Privacy Policy.
